Q. Does HomeScouter cover the leads in my area?
A. YES! HomeScouter covers most states in the United States and most provinces in Canada. You can browse our areas using the map on the home page. If you can't find the area you are looking for, please contact the sales team at 888.678.0905 for more information.
Q. What are my billing options?
A. You may pay for your service through automatic draft from a Credit Card.
Q. Do I have to sign a long term contract?
A. No contract is required. We offer monthly, quarterly, and annual service packages.
Q. Where do you find the listings?
A. We have data compilers in each area who search newspapers, FSBO websites, FSBO magazines, and any public source that is available to find FSBO leads.
Q. How many people are using your service in my area?
A. Our clients come from a variety of professions including; real estate agents, investors, mortgage professionals, title companies, appraisal companies, insurance companies, carpet cleaners, home improvement companies, and others. There may be many people using your area, but not all of them are from the same industry.
Q. Can I import this data into my contact management software?
A. Yes! We can send the daily leads to you in a comma delimited format, which you can then import directly into almost any software you use.
Q. What information does each lead include?
Q. How do I know that you are getting all of the For Sale By Owners in my area?
A. . We are committed to find every published “For Sale By Owner” source. If you are aware of a "By Owner" source that HomeScouter needs to evaluate, please contact us.
Q. What if I call one of your listings and the ad was placed by a realtor?
A. The only reason you would ever reach a realtor from one of our ads would be if the agent did not indicate their “agency” in the ad. These are “blind” classified ads and we would have had no way of knowing that they were Realtor listed. If you find one of these ads, let us know and we'll mark it as such in our database so that others will not be confused by the ad.
Q. Do you send the leads in a form other than email?
A. No. Email is the most efficient way for us to get the leads to you. If you currently do not have an email account, you can set one up through Hotmail or Yahoo for free! If you prefer to access the leads through the HomeScouter database that is an option other than email.
Q. Can my leads be delivered to more than one address?
A. Yes. Included in your monthly costs you can have the leads delivered to two email addresses. Any additional addresses you would like the leads delivered to would require an additional charge.
Q. Are there different formats in which you can send the leads?
A. YES! We can send you the leads in an HTML file, a text file, or a CSV file, also known as a comma delimited file. A comma delimited file is a special type of text file that is suitable for importing into contact management software.
Q. Do you screen the Do Not Call Registry (DNC), and do I still get those leads?
A. Yes, we do screen the DNC and any leads with phone numbers that appear on that list will be designated as such. HomeScouter updates the DNC registry every 30 days. For more information regarding the DNC consult the following website:
www.donotcall.gov
Q. Can I change my billing schedule?
A. No. Your billing schedule is the anniversary date of when you signed up for service. For example, if you signed up for monthly service on May 18, you will be billed on June 18 and every following month on the 18th. If you sign up near the end of the month (29th, 30th, and 31st), you will may be billed at the beginning of the next month (the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd), depending on the number of days in the current month.
Q. Do I receive a monthly statement?
A. Yes. We will send you a monthly statement of billing to the e-mail address where you receive your leads.
Q. What areas do you cover?
A. To see our areas, simply go to www.HomeScouter.com and browse our areas using the map at the bottom of the page.
Q. I'm having difficulties importing your comma delimited file into my contact manager. What's up?
A. All contact managers are not created equally, and some have difficulties using standard CSV format. In some cases, the csv opens directly into Excel. When you save it from Excel, the formatting is modified, and if the contact managment software doesn't correctly handle the CSV specification, it will fail to import the leads. Because there are a variety of contact managment programs currently on the market, please contact the maker of your contact managment software for assistance with importing into their software.
